About the Role

As part of our network of contractors, you will support the production team in delivering our multi-disciplinary events programme including opportunities at our flagship festival in April 2023, schools touring program from January 2023, and other ad hoc events and warehouse operations throughout the year. There may also be occasional opportunities overseas (primarily in the Middle East region) to deliver our Worldwide events programme.

About Our Work

Our production department operates from our warehouse; our base for developing, maintaining, and storing kit. Prior to events, we require assistance at the warehouse to procure, audit, pack, and refurbish our stock. As well as being very hands-on, such duties also require spreadsheet and basic administrative skills.

Our festival work consists of a large family-focused venue which operates interactive science, technology, engineering and maths workshops. Our workshop materials and exhibition setups are high-quality builds which provide a safe, fun, and educational experience for young people. More activations of a similar nature take place in the National Museum of Scotland, other partner venues, and at outdoor locations across the city. Over the course of the festival, we also run an adult programme of talks and presentations with a more conventional conference or cabaret-style setup.

About You

Our work spans many disciplines and requires people with multiple skill sets and backgrounds including but not limited to:

  • Set and scenery construction and installation
  • Scenic artistry
  • Driver-runner duties
  • Warehouse duties – which include auditing, exhibition maintenance, packing and preparation of goods for upcoming or returning events
  • Electrics on exhibition and live events
  • Electronics
  • Carpentry
  • Audio Visual
  • Lighting
  • Sound
  • Production Management

We have a strong preference for people with a multi-skilled background and the ability to adapt and take on various tasks, not limited to their core discipline. We also are interested in other disciplines not listed above. An interest in science and learning is appreciated.

You will be:

  • Technically competent with at least 6 months experience within a live event or festival production setting.
  • Able to step into some or all roles outlined.
  • Organised, adaptive, and a team player.
