About the role:

Edinburgh Science Festival is recruiting for committed, confident Front of House staff to work at one of the biggest Science Festivals in Europe.

These are exciting and busy roles, offering a unique opportunity if you are looking to pursue a career in events or hospitality management.  We’ll be holding exciting events from Monday 31 March – Sunday 20 April 2025 (depending on venue allocated). You will be the face of the Science Festival: assisting members of the public, liaising with box office and dealing with feedback, all to help make our events and venues run smoothly.

About you:

A natural communicator with a cheerful and informed approach. You will already have some front of house or customer service experience. You are able to communicate clearly and confidently with colleagues/ members of the public and have the ability to remain calm under pressure.  You enjoy working as part of a team in a fast-paced busy environment and ideally have some festival experience.  Experience working with children aged 3-15 and their families is desirable.

You will be positioned in venues around the city; either working on our family or adult programme or both.  Full training will be provided in advance.

  • Front of House training: either 28 March or 4 April 2025 (depending on role
  • CAC Schools Programme: Monday 31 March – Wednesday 2 April 2025 (not all staff required, venue dependent)
  • Science Festival Lates: Thursday 3 April 2025 (not all staff required, venue dependent)
  • Festival live: Saturday 5 April – Saturday 20 April 2025

You should have flexible availability and should expect to work throughout the festival run. Shifts may be allocated at more than one venue and will include weekend / evening work.
