Staff Manager, Edinburgh Science Festival 2025


Pay: £115 pre-live period / £125 live delivery period (daily rate)
Dates/hours: January 20 – February 28 (4 days/28 hrs p/w) / March 3 – April 28 (full time)

About the role:

We are looking for someone with extraordinary organisational and people skills to recruit, train, programme and manage our temporary Festival staff including our Science Communicators, Front of House staff and Assistant Staff Managers.

This post is available initially on a part-time basis – 4 days per week from 20 January – end of February and then full-time, from March to end of April 2025.

Normal working hours out with the live Festival are usually 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. Some weekend and evening work will be required during the Festival training and live festival period.

About you:

You will have ideally worked in a festival/events environment with staff management responsibilities and have a sound understanding of festival/events settings.  You will bring exceptional people skills with experience in managing large groups of temporary staff.  Proven skills in recruitment and selection methods and training delivery are essential.  You will also be well organised, competent in using Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and ideally in using Applicant Tracking Systems for recruitment.  You’ll be a natural at meeting tight deadlines and delivering high quality work within time and budget.

 

Edinburgh Science Festival will be held this year from Saturday 5 April – Sunday 20 April 2025, with training starting from the 27 March. It is imperative you are available throughout this time period including weekends.
