About the role:

Edinburgh Science runs Generation Science, an educational outreach programme that delivers engaging science shows and hands-on workshops to more than 16,000 primary school pupils across Scotland between February and June each year. As one of the UK’s leading science education outreach programmes, Generation Science has inspired over one million pupils since 1991, creating memorable STEM experiences that spark curiosity and encourage a lifelong interest in science. 

Our workshops and shows are highly interactive, giving children the opportunity to investigate scientific concepts using real tools, materials and experiments, guided by enthusiastic presenters. More than 60% of our programme is delivered free of charge, with all other state schools receiving heavily subsidised visits, ensuring high-quality STEM experiences are accessible to as many young people as possible. 

We are currently looking for enthusiastic Workshop Presenters and Performers to join our team for the 2027 Generation Science tour. This is a unique opportunity to travel across Scotland, inspire the next generation of scientists, and play a key role in delivering one of the country's most established and impactful science outreach programmes.

About you:

Do you have energy to spare, a flair for working with children, and a love of sharing ideas? Whether you’re aiming for a future in primary education, performing arts, or youth work, this is the perfect chance to gain hands-on experience while inspiring the next generation. 

We’re looking for enthusiastic science workshop presenters and dynamic performers to deliver unforgettable science experiences in primary schools across Scotland. 

In this role, you’ll: 

  • Spark curiosity with hands-on science workshops 

  • Entertain and inspire with interactive science shows 

  • Build your confidence in communication and presentation skills 

  • Gain valuable experience working with children in a fun, supportive environment 

What we’re looking for: 

  • Confident, engaging communicators with a passion for presenting 

  • Some experience working with children (formal or informal) 

  • Performance skills and a love of learning (science knowledge is a bonus - we’ll train you!) 

  • Confident drivers with at least 1 years' experience (strongly preferred) 

  • Based within 30 minutes of Edinburgh or Glasgow city centres
