About the role:

As a Team Leader with Edinburgh Science Festival, you will form part of the team ensuring the high-quality delivery of workshops and activities that make up the Festival’s family programme at our flagship venue - City Art Centre.

You will lead a team of 2-11 Science Communicators working on their events throughout the festival run and within one of our family venues. You will be responsible for:

  • oversight of all aspects of your designated event/s and their physical space;
  • ensuring workshop spaces are being delivered to Edinburgh Science’s standards;
  • delivering high quality science communication and customer service.   

About you:

You will have confident communication skills, a passion for excellent customer service and be a quick learner, comfortable with scientific information. You will have an outgoing, friendly approach and enjoy working with children aged 3-15 and their families. Experience in Science Communication with family audiences in a festival setting or science centre context is essential.  Some supervisory or team management experience is highly desirable.  A background in theatre or performing arts would also be beneficial and a flexible, energetic approach to managing small teams is key. 

You must be available to work full-time for all the dates in the Festival period.

You will be required to attend the following mandatory training sessions:

Science Communication Training: Saturday 22 March 2025

Set up day(s): 27 or 28 March 2025

Event Specific Training:  29 March 2025

CAC Schools Programme: Monday 31 March – Wednesday 2 April 2025

Science Festival Lates: Thursday 3 April 2025

Festival live: Saturday 5 April – Sunday 20 April 2025
