Edinburgh Science Festival is recruiting for Assistant Staff Managers to join our team for the 2025 Festival, 31 March-20 April 2025 (depending on venue).

About the role:

As part of the Staff Management team, you will support and assist all temporary staff working at the Festival.  Working in a fast-paced, busy environment with a dynamic group of staff, you will manage a team of Science Communicators in delivering workshops and activities and support the Front of House team in ensuring the smooth running of events in your venue.

 

About you:

An excellent problem solver with a flexible approach to work, you have skills and experience in taking initiative to resolve unexpected challenges.  You will have demonstrable staff management experience in an events environment, where you will have shown to be approachable, reliable, and supportive of team members.  You will have an ability to work to a high standard under pressure, while keeping organised and available to your team.

This role will be positioned in one our venues around the city, either working on our family programme at City Art Centre, National Museum Scotland, or across the festival at multiple venues.  Full training will be provided in advance.

 

You must be available to work full-time for all the dates in the Festival period.  Your availability to assist with training preparation, delivery and festival staff recruitment in February/March in advance of the live Festival dates will be discussed with you at interview.

  • Training: 22, 28, 29, 31 March, 4 April (venue dependent)
  • CAC Schools Programme: Monday 31 March – Wednesday 2 April 2025 (venue dependent)
  • Science Festival Lates: Thursday 3 April 2025 (venue dependent)  
  • Festival live: Saturday 5 April – Sunday 20 April 2025
