We are seeking a talented Marketing Assistant to support us in the lead up to our annual Edinburgh Science Festival 2026 (4–19 April 2026).

About the Role:

This is an exciting and busy role and is a unique opportunity if you are looking to pursue a career in marketing.  It will give you excellent experience working across all aspects of our festival campaign.  Some of the areas you will get involved in are:

  • Assist with delivery of all aspects of the marketing and communications plan for our 2026 Festival;
  • Updating the Science Festival digital channels – producing content for the website, e-newsletters and social media channels;
  • Assisting with the design, delivery and distribution of branded materials for sponsors and stakeholders;
  • Assisting at film and photo shoots during the Festival, along with attending events and representing Edinburgh Science Festival.

About You: 

You will have the relevant skills and experience -

  • A high degree of computer/web literacy
  • Excellent communication skills with strong copy writing and editing skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with colleagues and external suppliers/press
  • Ability to work to agreed deadlines
  • Can work independently and contribute to a team-based environment
  • Ideally have some experience of events, marketing and CRM systems, preferably within a festival setting

This is a fixed-term contract from 26 January to 24 April, initially on a part time basis (4 days) raising to full-time during the core-Festival period. Standard office hours apply, but will require flexibility during the Festival live period, which may include some weekend working and unsocial hours.

26 January - 27 March (4 days per week) ; 30 March - 19 April (5 days per week) ; 20 April - 24 April (4 days per week)
